The Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is a rumored upcoming flagship phablet, expected to feature a similar dual-edge display as on the Galaxy S6 Edge, but reportedly with a 5.67-inch screen. Find out all we know so far about the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus price, release date, specs and rumors below, including our first proper look at the device.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus release date
Though Samsung usually unleashes its new phablets at its "Samsung Unpacked" events at IFA (as it did last year with the Galaxy Note 4 and Galaxy Note Edge); this year things are going to be different.
The Galaxy S6 Edge and Galaxy Note 5 will be announced on August 13, and will go on sale August 21. Recent speculation has suggested that Samsung is making attempts to get a head-start on the iPhone 6s, expected to launch in September. Stay tuned for our first hands-on Galaxy S6 Edge plus review.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus price
We don't have a concrete line on pricing for the Galaxy S6 edge+ but we know it will be expensive. While it won't have the S Pen functionality of the Galaxy Note 5, it will have that costly curved display.
We're thinking the Galaxy S6 Edge plus price will sit somewhere in the region of 900-1000 USD unlocked, depending on what the base internal memory capacity is.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus design
Based on the numerous images from press renders to in-the-wild shots to the usual case-maker leaks, we know an awful lot about the Galaxy S6 edge+ design. Which is it will basically look like every other Samsung Galaxy phone ever made. The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus is expected to come in four colors: gold, silver, white and black.
Previous leaks on GSMArena reported that the device dimensions will come in at 153.3 x 76.1 x 7.9 mm, with the screen size at 5.7 inches. On the other hand, Twitter leaker @onleaks puts the dimensions at 154.45 x 75.80 x 6.85 mm with a 5.5-inch screen.
Interestingly, the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus seems to lack a USB Type-C port, which is expected to soon become the Android standard.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus leaks
More real-life photos of the Galaxy S6 edge+ have been leaked online by MobileFun. The specs of the S6 edge+ are unfortunately not revealed in the leak, other than the fact that the device is running Android 5.1.1 and has a model number of SM-G928A. This model number had previously been attributed to a Samsung project called Zen.
A week before the most recent leak came another from a German site called All About Samsung, where the Galaxy S6 edge+ was pictured alongside a Galaxy Note 4. The device in the following pictures is apparently a dummy unit, but it looks identical to the fully functioning device in the latest leak above.
Samsung Galaxy S6 Edge Plus specs
A recent AnTuTu benchmark leak of the Galaxy S6 Edge Plus specs certainly matches up with the specs we've been expecting: basically a Galaxy S6 Edge with more RAM. The S6 edge+ will be powered by the same CPU in the S6 Edge, the Samsung-made Exynos 7420 , and not the new Exynos 7422, as some rumors had declared.
Sam Mobile had previously claimed there would be a Snapdragon 808-powered S6 edge+, but we're expecting Samsung to stick with its own chip alone for this phone too. The other big news from the AnTuTu leak is 4 GB of RAM, 32 GB of internal storage (what we expect to be the base model), Mali-T760 GPU and and no microSD card expansion.
The Galaxy S6 Edge Plus will reportedly arrive with a 5.5-5.6-inch Super AMOLED display with QHD resolution (2,560 x 1,440 pixels, 534 ppi). Furthermore, it could house a 16 MP main camera (including OIS and 4K video recording) as well as a 5 MP front camera.
Sam Mobile also suggests that the device would run Android 5.1.1 Lollipop and use a 3,000 mAh battery. The S6 Edge Plus also looks to have a glass back like the S6 Edge and will likely feature turbo charging and wireless charging but will not, of course, have a removable battery, which will come as a disappointment to many people.
These details are very specific, and we don't expect them to be far wrong. Most rumors suggest two phablets will arrive from Samsung, but a new image from Samsung itself seems to show an 8-inch tablet alongside the S6 edge+ and Note 5. Could this be a Galaxy Edge Tablet?
