The year may be 2015, and email and instant messaging services may be prevalent, but some people and companies still use fax. We’re not quite sure why, but it’s an unfortunate fact of life that it’s still possible to have someone ask you to fax something over to you like an animal.
Thankfully, we can use our modern technology to send a fax as if it was 1990, and if you have an iPhone then you’re lucky because there are countless apps and services that claim to be able to send a fax right from your phone. If you ever find yourself in need of doing just that, then here are seven apps that you may want to try.
Of course, you might just be better begging your recipient to let you email them instead!
FaxFile (iPhone and iPad)
Free to download, IAPs for sending fax, FaxFile should do the trick if you want to send files or documents to someone via fax.
You can download the app from here.
iFax (iPhone and iPad)
Again, free to download with IAPs, iFax has received some pretty stellar reviews in its time and believe it or not, it even comes with an Apple Watch app. No, we didn’t believe it either.

CamScanner Free (iPhone)
Probably the nicest app to look at, CamScanner does much more than fax things and even does OCR for those that want to use it as a scanner. Free to download with IAPs, a premium version can be had by referring the app to friends.

Fax (iPhone)
Another nice looking app, the simply-titled Fax lets users take documents from any source and then fax them. Perfect for faxing documents from Dropbox or other storage services.

MaxEmail Fax (iPhone and iPad)
Recently rebuilt in order to take advantage of iOS 8, MaxEmail Fax technically lets you receive faxes as well as send them using your own MaxEmail number.

Doc Scan (iPhone)
Also a scanning app, Doc Scan’s faxing capabilities are just part of the service. Featuring edge and corner detection, this app is suitable even for those who want to create a paperless workflow.

eFax (iPhone and iPad)
One of the simpler apps, eFax does just what it says on the tin with minimul fuss.
