Fans of the Moto Racer series may be happy to read that it is to make a return to console gaming in the form of Moto Racer 4. We may even catch a glimpse of it at Gamescom 2015.
In development by Artefact Studio, Moto Racer 4 will be powered by the Unreal Engine 4. Offering a “unique graphical style” the press release for the announcement promises that the game will remain true to the spirit of Moto Racing, which won the series so many fans around the world.
Elliot Grassiano, Microïds Unit VP explains:
“Moto Racer 4 fits in perfectly with Microïds’ new strategy, which is to concentrate on ambitious video game projects with an international scope, such as Syberia 3 and Agatha Christie: The ABC Murders. This latest offering wil put the spotlight back on a legendary video game franchise that has been very popular among gamers”.
This will be the first time that the Moto Racer series, originally created in 1997 by Paul Cuisset (creator of Flashback) makes its way to the current generation consoles. Featuring “ultra-fast races in high-powered cars or spectacular Motocross races”, the series has sold seven million units around the world. Will its return be as popular as Microïds hope it will be?
Moto Racer 4 is expected to have a 2016 release and will be coming to Playstation 4 and Xbox One. With such a long wait till release, this may mean we won’t see much more than a technical demo at Gamescom, if even that.
