The Galaxy S6 is an important phone for Samsung after the S5 didn’t exactly set the smartphone world on fire. The S6 is a great device, but do you have to pay big money for it? Here are the best phone plans for the Galaxy S6.
T-Mobile
If you’re buying the phone outright, T-Mobile currently charges $629.76 / $679.92 / $759.99 for the 32, 64 and 128 GB models respectively, although you’ll also need a $15 SIM starter kit. If you’d rather not pay anything, $76.24 per month over two years gives you 1 GB of LTE data, although once again you’ll need to fork out for that SIM kit.
Verizon sticks with the RRP for the Galaxy S6, with prices of $599.99, $699.99 and $799.99 for the 32, 64 and 128 GB versions respectively. However, if you’re willing to commit to a two year contract the price drops to $199.99 / $299.99 / $399.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate. If you go for the 1 GB of shareable data with unlimited talk and texting that’s $70 per month for two years.

AT&T is a little on the pricey side if you’re buying the S6 outright: it charges $684.99 for the 32 GB model, $784.99 for 64 GB and $884.99 for 128 GB. Those prices drop to $199.99 / $299.99 / $399.99 on a two year contract, or you can get the phone for free if you subscribe to an AT&T Next plan. That has no activation charge and much lower smartphone access charges, so it works out just under $3 cheaper for a 32 GB S6 over two years compared to the contract price - although that example is on a 10 GB plan, so you’re shelling out nearly $140 a month plus tax.
Breakdown: For 1 GB per month over two years you’ll pay $199.99 for the phone and $65 per month.
Like AT&T, Sprint has several ways to buy the S6: full retail at $647 / $768 / $864, on a two-year contract for $199.99 / $299.99 / $399.99 after a $50 mail-in rebate, or via its two-year leasing and two-year Easy Pay options that give you the phone with no money down. If you go for the lease option, you’ll pay $20 per month over two years for the 32 GB model over and above your plan costs, and if you go for Easy Pay you’ll pay $27 per month. The difference between the two is that when you lease, you don’t own the phone.
Breakdown: For 1 GB per month over two years you’ll pay $199.99 and $60 per month.
