The Samsung Galaxy Note 4 has topped all other smartphones and phablets in a new customer satisfaction survey. The survey was conducted among 70,000 smartphone owners by ACSI, The American Consumer Satisfaction Index.
We recently reported that Samsung has once again toppled Apple in worldwide sales of smartphones for the first quarter of 2015, regaining the top spot that its biggest rival overtook from Samsung on strong sales of the iPhone 6 and iPhone 6 Plus.
Now, Samsung has claimed the top spot ahead of Apple in another important area: consumer satisfaction. The latest study of customer satisfaction conducted by The American Consumer Satisfaction Index (ACSI) claims the Galaxy Note 4 took the top spot in customer satisfaction, ahead of Apple's latest devices and the latest smartphones and phablets from LG, Motorola and HTC.
Galaxy Note owners are generally extremely passionate about their phablets, and the Note 4 has been Samsung's biggest success yet in the series. With the device leading the pack by a comfortable margin in customer satisfaction, this bodes well for the upcoming release of the Samsung Galaxy Note 5, which is expected to go on sale in the fall.
The former flagship Galaxy Note 3 phablet also performed extremely well for an older device, tying for second place along with Apple's iPhone 6, iPhone 6 Plus and Samsung's Galaxy S5. While Samsung's Galaxy S5 smartphone was not the big hit the company expected, it seems most S5 owners are very happy with the former flagship, as its score matched that of Apple's newest devices in customer satisfaction.
Motorola's Moto X and LG's G3 also did well, coming in third and fourth place respectively, followed mainly by older devices from the various top smartphone manufacturers. One glaring result toward the bottom was last year's HTC One M8. HTC recently introduced the new flagship One M9 to tepid response from critics and consumers and is apparently revamping its design division following the April departure of head designer Scott Croyle.
The inclusion of no less than three phablets in the top five of the survey underscores the increasing trend towards the larger-screened handsets. The survey also found that text messaging and ease of voice calling were among respondents' favorite smartphone features, while overall satisfaction with battery life and audio quality remained low.
